The late Spring in France broke for twenty-four hours on the 25th April. The sun came out and the temperature soared. It was so hot that the sapeurs-pompier were required to treat a number of people during the ceremony for heat exhaustion.
Whilst some bemoaned the heat, the regular attenders remarked that last year, getting water was the least of our problems as it was tipping it down.
M Jules Laude, Maire of Bullecourt welcomed us and he was followed by Senator The Hon. Bob Carr, the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs who gave the Commemorative Address.
As always, following the laying of wreaths at both the British-Australian Slouch Hat Monument and then the Village War Memorial, the parade set out for the Digger Memorial on the battlefield.
